             Dusy Ershim - 2006
                                            By: Phil Aaland

The Trail Crew did the Dusy Ershim again in 06 as our annual run in September.  The weather was great, but it did get cold a couple of nights.  It was 17 degrees Saturday morning and there was evidence of ice all over.

This year we had nine rigs for our run.  As usual Ross was the trail leader.  We met at Cortwright Reservoir Friday morning and headed out.

The first day was uneventful until we got to Thomson hill.  Again it took its toll.  However after replacing a Burfield, we made it to camp by early evening. - cold!

On Saturday a broken spring made us change our plans.  We decided to try welding it, but to no avail.  The alternative was it take a couple of rigs back to the Reservoir and get one of the springs off that vehicle and replace the broken one on Neil's.

The rest of us spend the day at Thompson lake just kicking back.  We left for Cortwright Sunday morning after welding up Dave's stripped out rear hub.  We got back to Cortwright early afternoon.

Thought we did not complete the trail, we had a great time and overall everyone felt that the trip was a smashing success.

The scenery around the Ershim area is second to none.  If you haven't done the Dusy trail, you owe it to yourself to do it.  The rocks are challenging, but the scenery and backcountry is well worth  them time and effort.

We will be back again next year.
